“What can I say? Here are the absolute undeniable facts:
1. I did not want a videographer for our wedding.
2. I was so wound up that day that I did not really get a chance to pay too much attention to anything going on other than when I was supposed to give my speech which seemed like a verbal version of the Spanish Inquisition.
That said, Ashley decided that it would be a good memento down the road and her opinion, apparently, trumps mine in almost every decision. You were referred to us and we met only once for a brief “interview”. We simply felt like you were undeniably the man for the job. You were relaxed, confident and did not boast ... your sample projects spoke for themselves. Heading into our wedding day, it did dawn on me that the video may be bland as we never really “got to know each other” as contractor / client on a personal level (after all, it was only one meeting, how exciting can a piece be based on a brief introduction?). As far as the day of shooting went, your team was very professional, friendly, relaxed and natural. You and your team disappeared within the guests and we were all allowed to enjoy our private function without any fear of becoming camera shy. You were shadows on the walls and let our day flow naturally.
Fast forward several months ... we received the final product and several video clips for our files. When I watched the 25 minute feature, I must be honest and admit that I unexpectedly did cry. Keep in mind that I did not shed a tear on the day of the wedding, but you managed to piece together all the best emotional, humorous and tender moments in a way that truly does capture the day in a way that made this grown man cry. I laughed out loud, I sobbed and “awed” ... choosing to have you document our wedding day has proven to be one of the best decisions that we made ... on a day when the bride and groom’s heads are spinning out of control and they are being pulled here and there for any number of reasons without much opportunity to really “take it all in”, your work and the video allows us to enjoy the day with a different point of view and to be able to share this with family and friends that could not be with us is a gift that I simply am so grateful for.
